In the summertime when strawberries are in season, turning them into a smoothie is a great way to bring them into the sauna.
It’s important to drink plenty in the sauna, but who said it has to be water? Summertime is strawberry-time, and that goes for sauna beverages as well. Mix up the berries with yogurt for a creamy, refreshing snack, and add the perhaps somewhat surprising secret ingredient, orange juice, for a sweet tang.
1 quart (4 cups) ripe strawberries
1 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon sugar
4 thin orange slices (optional)
Put all ingredients in a blender and process at the highest speed until a well-blended puree forms, for about 15 seconds. Taste the mixture and sweeten with a bit more sugar, if you want. Pour into tall glasses. Then, enjoy!
